High Fructose Corn Syrup

June 28th -According to an article in a 2009 issue of Environmental Health; The largest exposure that we as Americans have to the neurotoxin mercury is through the consumption of products containing High Fructose Corn Syrup.

High Fructose Corn Syrup is used in a large number of products in place of real sugar. Products such as soda, juice, fruit snacks, yogurt, ice cream, cereal and frozen dinners are just a sample of items that contain High Fructose Corn Syrup. Manufacturers of these products have found using this product is much less expensive and helps to add "flavor" to an over-processed artificial product.

Next time you pick up a product at the grocery store look at the ingredients list and avoid anything with HFCS. the best thing to do is shop the outside isles of the store. If you do drink sodas or juices look for things with real sugar or cane sugar and try to avoid artificial sweeteners (more on these later). also check out the Facebook site Ban on High Fructose Corn Syrup.
